The March issue of Wai is sitting at printers waiting to hit the streets. There’s articles from folks protecting the forests of Victoria and Tassie, of the campaigns against the Uranium industry expansions at Roxby Downs in South Australia and Angela Pamela just outside of Mpartnwe-Alice Springs. There’s also statements from the stop the Intervention convergence in Canberra, some reflections on working in top end aborignal communities, some poetry, some photos and a for the more practical amongst the readers some information about Guerilla Gardening and Grey Water Systems. Plus there’s the usual news, events, and campaign donation sections. The issue can be downloaded here: wai-march

We are seeking contributions for the second edition of Wai, a free
quarterly independent newspaper distributed across Australia.
Contributions can be articles, on anything from campaigns, collectives,
community projects, analysis of current issues, news items, events
updates; photos; art pieces; poetry; comics; food not bombs or
infoshop/community space listings (particularly in sydney, perth, brisbane
and non-capital cities/towns); books and websites to be included in a
resources section; listings for groups or campaigns seeking donations…
or whatever you want.
The final deadline for contributions for content of the paper is February
28, though the earlier the better to speed up the design process.
We are also looking for people who want to help with design, and
distribution in their area.
Wai costs $1600 to print 3000 copies of the 20 page paper. We are looking
at ways to raise this money so that the paper can be free. If you would
like to make a donation, or help us raise funds for the paper, please do!
